Every day, clients and friends ask: Is course “X” registered with STPS? Do you issue DC-3? Are you registered with the Ministry of Labor? All the training we offer is registered with STPS. Why? Simply because registration is a must for every instructor dedicated to this exciting profession.
We think this issue is important because every day the market offers many highly attractive training programs—and perhaps they are. However, you should consider this initial premise when evaluating providers.
First... A professional instructor should feel obliged to register with STPS, a basic procedure for anyone entering corporate training. It is straightforward: download the well-known DC-5 form and fill it in with the instructor’s basic details and the training courses to be registered within their area of specialization.
The process can begin online or in person. Either way, you must present original documents and copies of physical evidence supporting the trainer's knowledge (degrees, diplomas, certificates, etc.). If you have acquired suitable knowledge through work experience, you can also submit client letters certifying your competence.
Take note! This procedure authorizes and registers you as an external STPS training provider, but does not endorse content quality. It grants no academic credit or recognition of individual professionals’ study programs. Each instructor is responsible for training quality.
Second... Training and HR (RH) leaders should always request the instructor’s STPS registration number or certificate to ensure training hours are valid. Companies have an employer obligation to provide staff training recognized by STPS.
This is a very simple process, but you must know how to carry it out. It is published in the Official Journal of the Federation, so any noncompliance can create problems with the relevant authorities.
NOTE: In training such as Emergency Response Teams, the instructor is even required to be registered with Civil Protection and, depending on the state, to hold the specific state registration.
Keep this in mind, dear reader. Training is sometimes undervalued and anyone may consider themselves an instructor, offering courses that ultimately fail to meet industry's essential minimum requirements. This will create problems for you in the future.
Do not worry: at Jesús Sánchez Training & Consulting, all courses and instructors are registered with the relevant authorities to offer solutions, not problems. Want to learn more? Write to us; let us talk.
