Lift your power of influence
The first 5 laws of irrefutable leadership
Every great leader begins by recognizing, understanding and developing their level of influence. Sometimes we worry about moving everyone in the company, area or department, when our influence actually extends to a small team. Yet when that team is properly empowered, aligned and coordinated, with the right pieces in the right places, its potential is enormous.

Increase your ability to influence people. Leadership is like a muscle that develops over time as it is exercised. Self-discipline, self-awareness, self-management and the ability to build lasting social and working relationships all strengthen your influence. In his book “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership,” John Maxwell offers a perspective through 21 standards for developing that persuasive power.
Throughout my development as a coach and consultant, some of life's most significant lessons have come from my experience developing with John Maxwell. Today, I therefore want to explore the first 5 laws of irrefutable leadership with you:
-
- The Law of the Lid: Leadership ability determines a person's limits. As you become willing to grow as a leader, your growth personally and in business or work advances proportionately. Success requires dedication and continuous leadership development.
- The law of influence: Increase your influence. The true measure of leadership is influence. Leadership is earned, not handed down. For people to truly follow you, whether through conviction or curiosity, you must earn your position, respect, trust and admiration. Only then can you influence people and their results.
- The law of process: Leadership does not happen overnight; it develops day by day. If you commit, remain disciplined and work on your leadership every day, however much or little, you will grow.
- The law of navigation: Anyone can steer the ship, but a leader is needed to chart its course. A team must always understand its goals, objectives and strategy, which the leader establishes. Without a leader, our team drifts without direction: lost, unmotivated and without a course.
- E.F. Hutton's law: When the leader speaks, others listen. When a true leader expresses an opinion, they know they do not own the truth, but their analytical ability, influence, and intuition lead the team to listen attentively.
So far, we have explored the first 5 laws John C. Maxwell presents in “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.” Dear reader, you must internalize, analyze, understand and focus on them so your growth as a leader can begin.
In future editions, we will analyze the remaining laws of leadership. Stay sharp!
Rock´n roll people!!!
