7 Tips for Developing an FMEA (AMEF)
7 Tips for Developing an FMEA. Risk analysis using FMEA is extremely effective when performed correctly. It helps ensure product quality through a proper analysis of the process.
That is why we are sharing 7 Tips for developing an effective process FMEA (AMEF).
-
Plan the FMEA (AMEF) following the 5T’s methodology, identifying:
- The InTention – what is the objective that makes developing FMEA (AMEF) necessary?
- The Task – the activities to be carried out to develop the FMEA must be clearly defined
- Team (Team) - with an interdisciplinary team, development will be strengthened and objectivity reduced
- Time - To set a clear schedule, as required by customers.
- Tools (Tools) - To clearly define tools to conduct analysis of the following steps.
-
The analysis of the structure
considering every operational step that could potentially fail, including support activities such as inspections or maintenance, and taking the 4M’s approach (Manpower, Machinery, Materials and Environment) to identify the work elements involved in the process.
-
Do a very good Function Analysis
this is the most critical point of FMEA (AMEF). If done improperly, the rest will be incorrect, considering that each work element can have 1 or more functions.
-
We have to remember how best to do
The fault analysis is finding the negative part of the function, that's what if the function isn't performed correctly.
-
To conduct risk analysis
considering the SOD tables' descriptions for each value and identifying existing controls to prevent recurrence and detect failures.
-
Realizing an optimization of the process
identifying actions that mitigate or eliminate failure causes and prevent the effects of failure modes.
-
Conduct Reverse FMEA (AMEF)
To validate the results of actions as defined in optimization and thus evaluate the effectiveness of AMEF.
