Leaders in professional training:
STOP Methodology Course: Excellence in Occupational Safety
At JS Training & Consulting, we developed our STOP Methodology course specifically to prevent injuries by improving safety observation skills and raising employees’ safety awareness. The program teaches staff to recognize safe and unsafe conditions, along with actions that create workplace risks. It offers a complete solution for organizations seeking to reduce injuries and incidents through a safety culture based on leadership, observation and effective prevention.
Your employees can thus understand the basics of safety leadership, identify unsafe acts and conditions, understand the difference between hazards and risks, implement the safety cycle and use personal protective equipment (EPP) correctly. The course also promotes safe positioning, proper use of tools and equipment, housekeeping procedures and the development of safety campaigns that turn the STOP methodology into a practical tool for eliminating risks and preventing injuries in all work activities.
Course objectives
Safety Culture Through STOP
First, participants will understand the basic concepts and tools for creating a workplace safety culture through the STOP methodology. They will also understand expectations for safety leadership and its impact on the organization. They will therefore be able to reduce injuries and incidents through safety leadership behaviors.
Recognition of Unsafe Acts and Conditions
They will also learn to recognize unsafe acts and conditions in the workplace, clearly distinguishing between hazards and risks in every activity. They will identify potentially dangerous situations before they become accidents or injuries.
Implementation of the Safety Cycle
Participants will also learn STOP objectives and the safety cycle for effective implementation. They will learn strategies for eliminating hazards and risks, starting with themselves. In particular, they will master EPP use, personnel positioning, tools and equipment, and housekeeping procedures.
Injury prevention and risk reduction
Finally, they will implement the STOP methodology correctly to reduce workplace hazards and risks. They will also develop safety campaigns, identify and assess risks, and create matrices of routine and nonroutine activities. Next, they will conduct analyses to eliminate risks. As a result, they will evaluate the safety system's performance to improve working conditions continuously.
Results at the end of the course
Recognizing Risks and Conditions
First, participants will be able to recognize unsafe acts and conditions in their work area. They will also identify hazards and risks before they cause accidents or injuries. They will therefore be able to intervene proactively to prevent incidents through effective observation.
Safety Awareness Tools
Participants also gain tools to raise safety awareness among all staff. They understand leadership’s impact on safety and the behavior expected of a leader, promoting a culture that puts safety first in every activity.
Correct Use of Protective Equipment
You will also clearly understand the value of using personal protective equipment (PPE). You will correctly apply safety measures related to people's positions, tool and equipment use, and order and cleanliness procedures. In particular, you will understand how each element contributes to accident prevention.
Risk Elimination and Injury Prevention
Finally, you will obtain tools to eliminate safety risks and prevent injuries effectively. You will implement safety campaigns, matrices of routine and nonroutine activities, and analyses to eliminate risks. You will then evaluate the safety system's performance and turn the STOP methodology into a daily practice that reduces injuries and incidents, builds collective safety awareness and establishes a safer workplace for everyone.
Intended audience
All personnel in the organization, regardless of hierarchical level.
