Course: Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Leaders in professional training:

At JS Training & Consulting, we have developed our course on Statistical process control, specifically designed to strengthen employees' analytical competencies and improve the stability and performance of production processes. This program comprehensively covers the foundations of data analysis and quality tools, from understanding variation and its common and special causes to correctly applying control charts to prevent defects and support continuous improvement.

The Statistical Process Control course provides practical tools for interpreting statistical information, assessing process capability and performance using indices such as Cp, Cpk, Pp and Ppk, and applying advanced techniques such as X-R, X-S and I-MR charts, along with special methods including CUSUM and EWMA. Participants develop the ability to make data-based decisions, improve product and service quality, and strengthen an organizational culture focused on prevention, efficiency and operational excellence.

Course objectives

Understanding the Foundations of Statistical Process Control

First, participants understand the fundamentals of Statistical Process Control, principles of data analysis and quality tools applied to production. They learn the difference between preventing and detecting defects and recognize the importance of variation and its common and special causes. This creates a solid foundation for monitoring and continuously improving processes.

Application of Control Charts for Decision-Making

They will also learn to use control charts for variables and attributes, such as X-R, X-S, I-MR, p, np and c. They will be able to interpret process behavior and detect deviations promptly, strengthening decision-making based on reliable, objective data.

Evaluation of Process Capability and Performance

Participants will also learn to measure process capability and performance using indices such as Cp, Cpk, Pp and Ppk. They will therefore be able to evaluate compliance with specifications and propose improvements focused on reducing variability.

Using Advanced Tools for continuous improvement

Finally, participants develop skills to apply advanced Statistical Process Control tools, including special CUSUM and EWMA charts, integrating them into control and continuous improvement systems. They can improve product and service quality, operational efficiency and an organizational culture based on statistical analysis and failure prevention.

Course results

Efficient Data Analysis and Performance of Processes

By the end of this course, participants can analyze production process data and interpret behavior using statistical tools. They identify variation, detect common and special causes, and make informed decisions to improve process performance and stability.

Mastery of Tools for Statistical Process Control

Participants will also gain practical tools for applying variable and attribute control charts, including specialized charts such as CUSUM and EWMA, strengthening their ability to monitor processes, prevent defects and respond promptly to deviations.

Evaluation of Process Capability and Performance

Participants will also understand and apply capability and performance indices such as Cp, Cpk, Pp and Ppk to assess specification compliance. They will identify improvement opportunities focused on reducing variability and ensuring quality.

Improving Productivity and Operating Quality

Finally, the participant will have a tangible improvement in the quality of products and services as well as in the efficiency of processes and will contribute to strengthening an organizational culture that relies on prevention, continuous improvement and decision-making that relies on reliable statistical data.

The course aims at:

  • Senior management and middle management personnel who needs to make strategic decisions based on data analysis and control of process variability.
  • Department heads, supervisors and quality and production managers who manage operational processes and seek to improve stability, efficiency and performance through Statistical Process Control tools.
  • Technical and operational personnel involved in measuring, analyzing, and monitoring production processes who wishes to strengthen their skills in using control charts and evaluating process capability.
  • Engineering, quality, and continuous improvement professionals that seek to implement data-based methodologies to optimize quality, reduce defects and strengthen the culture of prevention and continuous improvement in their organisations.
